If you're not ready for publishing, change the Status on the right hand side from "Active" to "Draft". Shopify can kick you out without saving so it's recommended to save periodically in the "Draft" state until ready to publish.
- Add Title
- Add Description
- Add Photos to the Media section.
-Photos should be a ratio of 1:1
- Shopify needs the photos to be small, they may reject a photo saying needs to be under "20 MB" that is in fact already under 20 MB, this is because the resolution is too high. Reduce the photo and try again. A resolution under 150 dpi and 1500px x 15000px is ideal for fast loading.
- Click and drag to re-arrange photos
- To add videos, first upload videos to YouTube, then on shopify click "Add from URL" in the media area and add the YouTube link. - On the right hand side: Choose a "Product Type"
- On the right hand side: Add tags.
- Pre-created Tags will begin to pop-up as you start typing. These Tags are most ideal to use.
- Tags such as "Bicycle Carriers" will place products into Collections automatically so that pop-up when chosen under site navigation. You can also use lifestyle tags such as "RV" or "Family Fun" to place products in Lifestyle Collections.
- Tags that have underscores, such as "Bicycle Carriers_Hitch Racks" are for the filtering that occurs on the left hand side of search/collection pages.
- Most product will need both types of Tags
- You can create new tags if you need to, Tags with underscores will automatically make new filter options. However, Tags without underscores will not automatically create new Collections. (New Collection must be generated under the Collections area of Shopify, located under Products in the left hand Admin navigation). - On the right hand side, choose a product template. DO NOT LEAVE AS DEFAULT.
-Unless you are going to a lot of extra work to make a lifestyle page, use one the following:
--Standard Product (Requires a Manual to be added).
--Replacement Parts
--Accessories
--Accessories with Manual (Requires a Manual to be added). - Back on the left hand side, add the SKU.
- Make sure "Track Quantity" is unchecked.
- Add a Shipping Weight
- Towards the bottom of the page under "Metafields":
- (Optional) Add a Manual Link
-- You can get a Manual Link by adding the manual pdf to dropbox (marketing@letsgoaero.com) and then clicking "Copy Link", change the end of the link URL form "=0" to "=1" to have the link automatically download for the customer.
- (Optional) Add any Product Specifications. These will appear under the "Specifications" tab on the product page. - Add a Shipping Carrier, this should only state the Carrier name. Most products say "UPS Ground", "Freight Carrier", or "USPS Ground"
- Copy the SKU into MPN. Just the number, no "#" or "Part No." or anything like that.
- (Optional) Add a comment under Availability. If the product is "Coming Soon" or needs any other kind of availability notice.
- If ready to post, check that the Status at the top of the page is set to "Active" and save.
- If not ready to post, check that the Status at the top of the page is set to "Draft" and then save.
