Unishippers- UPS Account

This is our Third-Party shipping system we use for our UPS small parcel shipments and occasional freight LTLs. This site is great for scheduling UPS shipments, freight quotes, and displaying all current orders in transit.

  • How to Prepare a UPS Shipment (located in the quick links tab on the right-hand side).
    • To the left is the sender information, and to the right, the receiver. If the address is already saved, you can click the magnifying glass to display the saved addresses logged into our account. If it is a dropship order, you will manually input the shipment information. Do not save customer addresses, only save wholesale accounts (Northern Tool, Camping World, etc.)
    • Under shipment information, you can input two reference numbers, and shipment description. The numbers normally put here will be the PO#, then our SO# (Invoice number).
    • Under package, you will input the package weight and dimensions. Content description is optional, but helpful when dealing with multiple shipments and SKUs. COD amount and Declared Value aren't needed unless specified.
    • Another optional input will be Shipping Event Email, which you can send confirmation emails to ourselves, or the receiver.
    • Finally, service details will allow you to change the bill to destination, input the account number for billing, signature requirements (additional fee), additional charge/handling, and service level.
      • We don't add additional charges or signatures unless specified in an order or from management. We will almost always use UPS ground for shipments unless specified.
  • How to prepare an LTL Shipment
    • Follow the same sender/receiver steps as a UPS shipment. Take note of the location options, as this is used to input additional services like liftgates, residential deliveries, or appointments.
    • Under Handling Unit, we will input number of packages, type (carton), freight class, weight, description, and dimensions. Use the Unishippers NMFC Codes sheet to determine the class number, which will correspond to an NMFC code. Inputting the dimensions will give you the Calculated Density, which determines the NMFC code for the class.
    • We do not insure our shipments unless specified.
    • Under shipment references, I usually add the PO# from the customer, then our Invoice/Sales Order number.
    • Select the appropriate pickup date, and we ship all freight as a standard LTL Shipment.
    • Once you click 'Get Rate Estimate,' this will pull up a list of available freight companies, their transit times, and cost. Please verify with a superior before selecting a carrier.
